History of the Western Reserve Online
In the original charter of the Colony of Connecticut, King Charles II granted the Connecticut rights to a territory the width of the colony that extended from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean. This territory covered 5,000 square miles bounded on the north by Lake Erie, on the east by Pennsylvania, and on the south by the 41st north latitude which is just south of present-day Barberton.
